I just wanted to let you know that we love your formula - my son had terrible stomach issues (vomiting, diarrhea, gas) on Similac Organic - and after 2 days on Baby's Only Organic® he is back to his normal happy self. Thank you for creating a formula that is easy on the baby and easy on the mom (no crazy ingredients or bleach filled, petroleum soaked DHA!!)

Synthetic Oils Could be Making Babies Sick

Organic Watchdog Asks USDA to Overturn Bush-Era Illegal Shenanigans

Cornucopia, WI – For years, the USDA’s National Organic Program has failed to enforce federal organic standards that prohibit the use of certain unapproved synthetic substances in organic infant formula and other organic foods. The Cornucopia Institute, a Wisconsin-based food and farm policy research group, is taking action to rein in the practice with the re-filing of a formal legal complaint with the USDA calling for the removal of the additives from organic infant formula.

The additives, DHA and ARA, are nutritional oils grown from fermented algae and soil fungus, and are being added to most conventional as well as organic formula brands. They have been linked to serious illness in some infants.

The addition of DHA/ ARA supplements to infant formulas has grown in popularity over the past several years. Now, it seems as though DHA is added to everything, our infant formulas, our milk, our yogurt, juice, and the list goes on and on. Although there has been positive research done regarding this supplementation, when did it become the right of the manufacturer to add it directly to our foods, especially our infant formulas?

Meet Nature’s One’s dietitian, Diane Wilson, MS, LD, RD. Graduating from Framingham State College with a major in foods & nutrition, Diane completed her dietetic internship at Yale Medical Center. She went on to earn a Masters of Public Health in nutrition from the University of North Carolina. Diane has enjoyed a 30-year career in maternal and child nutrition for the public sector and leading infant formula manufacturers. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous state & national dietetic awards. A great deal of knowledge and experience backs Diane’s answers to parent’s questions
